Spring
is
in the air. It is a season of celebration, energy and new
possibilities. I welcome you with that same energy of spring to this
newsletter dedicated to that ancient wisdom that teaches us to live
in harmony with the laws of nature. Come,
explore the gifts of Ayurveda. Every month we will present various
topics relating to holistic health ranging from health issues, yoga,
meditation, food and herbs in simple format with plenty of practical
suggestions for ways to incorporate a healthy lifestyle.

Pranayama

Prana,
or the life force, flows through every being in the universe
nurturing, healing, sustaining and connecting us to all of life
through our breathing process. “As we inhale , we become part of
that flow of energy that transcends time and space, when we
cultivate awareness and discipline around this constant flow pf
prana and use it to direct our thoughts, it becomes a powerful
healing force and a vehicle to reconnect to our own divine nature."

soul with gentle stretching, therapeutic breathing techniques and

Aromatherapy


Hands On Aromatherapy Workshop at the
HERB CLOSET in Newport Beach on June 6th 2010
Come explore the
uses of essential oils for beauty, stress relief and for improving
many health problems. In every culture and since ancient
times aromatic oils have been used for religious traditions and for
a wide range of physical as well as emotional complaints. Come learn
why aromatherapy is so effective as validated by its popularity and
scientific research. With this workshop you will learn what
essential oils are, why and how they work on the body and
mind, where to find high quality essential oils, how to use them
safely and appropriately. You will feel more confident about using
oils in compresses, baths, candle diffusers etc. You
will have an opportunity to make your own personal blend and learn some of the basics of blending oils for daily use and
for health improvement. We will also teach effective ways of dealing
with stress combining the powerful practices of yoga and meditation
along with the therapeutic effects of essential oils to bring calm
or to invigorate or to heal.

Aligning
With Nature's Rhythm

Spring

Common
Ailments - Constipation

Constipation
is usually related to the imbalance of vata dosha due to eating out
of balance, stress, travel and lack of exercise. Constipation is
easily remedied by eating a balanced vata pacifying diet which
includes lots of fiber, fluids, portions that are easy to digest and
regularly taking

Yoga can be very beneficial in getting rid of constipation. Some
simple poses to try are the 'Wind Relieving Pose, the 'Locust Pose'
and the 'Cobra Pose'.
